AfriCamper Rental Terms for travel between 01-Jan-2009 and 30-Nov-2010 General Terms & Conditions
* Pick up and Drop off depots in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban and Windhoek.
* Minimum rental duration is 7 days.
* Pick up and Drop off days are included in rental duration.
* Persons renting cannot be younger than 25 and not older than 75 years of age.
All mentioned Rates are per day, and include the following:
* unlimited kilometres (unless less than 15 days, then 250km/day inclusive; further km´s at € 0,20/km)
* Comprehensive insurance cover (€ 500,- excess)
* Camping equipment (refer to Vehicle Details)
* Transfer to and from airport/hotel (on days of Pick up & Drop off)
* Camping guide & Road maps
* Security package (refer to Vehicle Details)
* GPS Garmin " Nuvi " for southern Africa
* Border crossing to South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Swaziland and Lesotho
* Second driver
* Tax (14% VAT)
General Restrictions:
• Speed limits (tar roads max. 100km/hr, Gravel roads max. 60km/h)
• Climbing on vehicle or canopy prohibited.
• Drop off of vehicle: Interior swept clean, exterior washed. Should the vehicle be returned in a dirty condition and it is not possible to
check for damages, 50€ will be charged.
• Windscreen/window/head- or rearlight/ damage – cracks and/or larger chips are not acceptable and will be charged with a new
replacement.
• Tyre tube damage – replacement with a new tube only (no repairs allowed)
• Tyre damage – a new tyre (same make & model type) must be bought when cuts or holes are larger than 5mm. No patching
allowed.
COMPREHENSIVE INSURANCE & EXCESS COVER
• Comprehensive Insurance is included in Rental fees.
• Excess is 500 €
• Persons renting vehicle are responsible to pay excess until damage and responsibility has been cleared.
DISCLAIMER
Persons renting are liable for all damages to the "Suppliers" vehicles
• If contract Terms & Conditions are not held
• Damages that occur through willful or reckless neglect
• Driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs
• Driving on restricted, inaccessible or closed roads
• Water-Damage, Fire-Damage, Damage of vehicle interior, entire Camping equipment
• Damage to windscreen/windows/lights, tyres and canopy
• Deliberate violation of the law (Parking tickets, etc.)
• Personal belongings
Should the above mentioned happen, an additional excess will be charged to cover these costs. These damages will not be
covered by the Comprehensive insurance cover or the Rental fee.
ACCIDENT
• Should the vehicle be involved in an accident, a replacement vehicle can, if available, be fetched by the nearest Depot. All incurred
expenses are carried by persons renting.
• Should the Persons renting wish the replacement vehicle to be delivered, then these expenses will be charged.
• Persons renting are responsible for salvaging and bringing the vehicle back to the Pick up Depot. All incurred expenses are carried
by persons renting.
• Should AfriCamper not be able to offer a replacement vehicle, no refunding of rental fees (for ending the contract earlier) will take
place if persons renting are responsible for accident/damages.
• No refunding of rental fees will take place for lost days due to an accident, or time lost for organizing the replacement vehicle.
• Persons renting irrevocably waive any rights, which they may have, to claim any form of compensation for any damages which they
might suffer due to injury or death from AfriCamper. The client hereby indemnifies AfriCamper against any and all claims of any
nature. Clients must ensure they have travel & personal insurance.
REPAIRS
• Repairs up to 50€ can be done without the permission of AfriCamper, and will be reimbursed after presenting the original invoice.
• Any problems associated with the vehicle, including equipment failure, must be reported to Africamper cc. as soon as possible and
within 24 hours in order to give the company the opportunity to rectify the problem during the rental. We do not accept liability for any
claims submitted after this period.
REPLACEMENT VEHICLES
In case of unexpected circumstances, AfriCamper holds the right to replace the vehicle with a similar or higher quality vehicle. This is not a breach of contract and does not allow Persons renting a discount or reimbursement.
ROAD RESTRICTIONS
• Vehicles are allowed to travel in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Swaziland and Lesotho. They are NOT allowed in Angola,
Mozambique or Malawi. Zimbabwe and Zambia on request only. Should the vehicle cross the borders of these restricted countries,
the vehicle will no longer be insured.
• AfriCamper holds the right to restrict travel in certain areas due to weather conditions, political circumstances or other particular
reasons.
• All 4x2 Campers are allowed to travel on any properly tarred surface. Good smooth sand roads are also permitted. There are areas
however that are not suitable for driving with a camper. These are: Swartberg Pass (RSA), Sani Pass (RSA), Kalahari Gemsbok
Park (Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park), Roads to the Sentech Towers in Marakele Park (RSA), Baviaanskloof Pass (RSA), Skeleton
Coast Park (Namibia), short road from Hobas to the Viewpoint (Fish River Canyon), Van Zyl’s Pass (Namibia), Sandwhich Harbour
(Namibia), Kaokoland (Namibia), Okavango Delta (Botswana), all Nationalparks in Botswana, washed out roads, all D-Roads in
Namibia.
METHOD OF PAYMENT
The booking confirmation deposit itemised in your breakdown of pricing is payable using Visa or Mastercard upon confirmation of your booking.
The remaining balance of your rental will be processed in two additional payments, first additional payment will be processed after the booking confirmation has been received. This will be a further 35% of the total rental costs and transacted as a separate payment from the initial booking confirmation deposit. The second additional payment for the remaining 50% of your rental payment will processed 30 days out from travel.
The following credit cards are accepted, Visa and Mastercard.
DEPOSIT
500€ are to be left as security (Bond) on site at the Pick up of the vehicle. Additionally a signed copy of a valid credit card will be taken for any possible damages that are not covered by the insurance (see Disclaimer). Only Mastercard and VISA are accepted.
RIGHT OF WITHDRAWEL
• In the case of cancellation befor the Pick up of the vehicle, 20% of the total amount will not be reimbursed.
• Should the vehicle be brought back earlier than agreed, no reimbursement will be made.
CANCELLATION / RIGHT OF WITHDRAWEL

Should the vehicle be brought returned earlier than agreed upon, no reimbursement will be made.
Cancellation Fee:
The deposit is non refundable. In addition to forfeiting your deposit, the following charges apply:
If cancelled 31 days (4 weeks) prior to the hire – 20% of the hire is charged
If cancelled 17 days (2 weeks) prior to the hire – 50% of the hire is charged
If cancelled 10 days (1 weeks) prior to the hire – 100% of the hire is charged
Should the vehicle be brought returned earlier than agreed upon, no reimbursement will be made.
TRAVEL INSURANCE
The supplier strongly recommends that clients ensure they take out the highest level of travel insurance. In many cases this will cover any losses incurred if you are forced to cancel your booking.

The rates on this website are often heavily discounted. This is due to our negotiated rates and bulk buying power. On very rare occasions, a rate may be displayed incorrectly due to our, or a vehicle supplier's error. In such a case, if you book with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. We make every effort to keep information on our site up to date, but we cannot guarantee this website is free of errors or omissions and retain the right to update or change the information published at any time.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law we/the owners of this website will not be liable to you or to any third party (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage (including but not limited to any accident, injury, delay or loss of enjoyment) arising out of your reliance upon information contained on this website, including but not limited to your use (or inability to use) any products or services described or procured through this website.
When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier’s rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.
While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.
Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice. The deposit required to secure your vehicle (as shown on the secure booking page) will only be processed on your credit card when your booking is confirmed. Please note that a 1.75% credit card charge will be added when your payment is processed.
A booking is confirmed when you have been emailed a confirmation voucher and at this stage the deposit is processed on your card and becomes non-refundable and any cancellation fees stated in the supplier's terms apply. Upon receipt of your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes at a later date.
If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.
Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.
Amendments
Please note that some suppliers treat an amendment as a new booking and apply the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). If the rental period is increased, an additional deposit may be required. If the rental period is shortened which results in a reduction of the rental charges, the deposit amount will remain unchanged, and the difference between the original and revised deposit is forfeited (it cannot be used towards remaining rental charges). To request a change to a confirmed booking, please use the alterations request link on your confirmation. Any alterations are subject to availability and the approval of the supplier. In addition to the alteration policy of the supplier stated in their terms, the following charges will apply:
Car rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 25.00
To add or remove extras to/from a confirmed booking: 10.00
Motorhome rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 75.00
To add or remove extras to/from confirmed booking: 20.00
The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.
Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
AfriCamper Insurance
